I started working with wood in 1975 when I learned how to make furniture in an industrial arts program at the University of Missouri. I graduated with a degree in industrial arts. While at university, I also took art classes, including sculpture. I started focusing on woodturning in the mid 1980s.
For six years, 2009-2014, I edited American Woodturner, journal of the American Association of Woodturners. I "retired" in June 2014 and returned to my own woodturning, yea! I make a variety of turned objects such as nest-egg vessels and turned-and-cut-apart sculpture ... mostly, though, I love carving wood!
My work is represented in numerous public and private collections, including the Renwick Gallery, Smithsonian.
