Enneper II

I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and went to college at the University of Colorado and then obtained his DDS degree at the CU School of Dentistry. I have since gone on to complete a 20 year career with the Public Health Service at several locations around the US. My last station was in Alaska, which I loved, but was just too dark in winter for my wife Susan. After retiring from the PHS, I moved to Susan's ancestral home in Springfield, Vermont. I am still practicing dentistry full time but make time to spend in the shop creating turned objects. I started woodworking soon after I graduated from dental school. I learned basic skills using the shop of a friend who got me interested. in woodworking. I bought my first woodworking tool, a Shopsmith, after moving to New York. I started turning on the Shopsmith slowly acquiring skills by trial and error and taking one weekend class from Russ Zimmerman. As my turning skills increased, I outgrew the limited turning capacity of the Shopsmith and bought a Woodfast lathe in 1992 . Using the Shopsmith, my new lathe and some plans from Wood magazine, I constructed his first segmented woodturning and was hooked. I designed and completed numerous segmented pieces since then. After moving to Vermont, I built my dream shop/studio in the first floor of our renovated barn and replaced the Shopsmith with several separate stand-alone machines. I continue to turn bowls, boxes and hollow forms to a limited degree, but lately have ventured into carving my turned forms and exploring texturing, coloring and other enhancements. You can see more of my work on my website breezyhillturning.com
