Ginkgo Vase

I started wood turning in 2012 after being inspired by a tv program on public broadcasting. I am a retired civil engineer and have enjoyed the creativity that woodturning has brought out of me. From a young age I have always had an artistic vein that started with oil and water color painting then photography and now woodturning. Woodturning is by far my favorite of them. A few years ago I began to embellish my work with carving and adding color. I find this very enjoyable and challenging and also addictive. Now turning the vessel is creating the canvas that I can then go to work on with my carvers and paint brushes. I had not touched a lathe until I stood in front of one at David Ellsworth’s school in 2012. Needless to say he has and is a strong influence on my turning. I also admire the work and creativity of the late Liam Flynn and will always miss him. I feel like right now in 2022 my creativity is growing exponentially and I am excited to see where it takes me.
