A former opera singer,  I fell into visual art after finding that learning how to carve from my father (and excellent, but amateur artist) was an excellent way for two very different people to find common ground. The idea of art as a means of finding communion with others has, from a very young age, been a bedrock principle of my life.

After leaving the opera world I moved to arts administration as a profession and ended up as an executive director of a 75 year old visual art center outside of Philadelphia.  A bit of chameleon, once I became immersed in the visual art world as an organizational leader, I naturally had to learn to express myself through visual art.

My history with wood lead me to the lathe. I love the versatility of both the medium and the tool. I'm still finding my own artistic voice and am overwhelmed by the excellence in the very vast turning community.  Something to shoot for...
